What If Pricing Transparency Is the Reason You’re Losing Clients?
I’ll be honest: I used to be terrified of putting my prices online. What if people thought I was too expensive? What if they clicked away before even getting to know me or my offer?
But over the years—as a service provider, copywriter, and launch strategist—I’ve seen the magic (okay, not magic—buyer psychology) that happens when you stop hiding and start practicing pricing transparency. In this episode of Before the Launch, I’m sharing why your prices shouldn’t be a mystery and how being upfront might just be your best sales strategy.
Why Pricing Transparency Matters
When people know the price up front, they can start to emotionally process the purchase. That $4K program? It might seem like a “heck no” at first. But if your messaging is strong and your offer is aligned, your audience will start to reconsider. I’ve seen it happen—multiple times.
And here’s the deal: If people don’t know the price? They won’t even inquire. You’re not protecting them—you’re cutting them off before they ever get the chance to say yes.
What If Your Prices Vary?
You might be thinking, “But my packages are custom!” Cool. You can still give a starting rate or range. The goal is to give potential clients enough information to qualify (or disqualify) themselves.
This helps you avoid wasting time on discovery calls with people who were never going to be a fit in the first place. It also builds trust, positions you as a confident provider, and—yes—leads to more sales.
Let People Say No—Then Win Them Over
One of my favorite sales concepts comes from Chris Voss: the best decisions often start with a “no.”
That means it’s OK if someone initially sees your price and backs away. Your job isn’t to avoid rejection. It’s to create marketing and messaging so good that people rethink their no.
(And yes, I tell a story in this episode about someone who did just that—and ended up enrolling in my Pre-Launch Plan Program.)
Ready to Rethink Pricing Transparency?
If you’ve been hiding your prices because you’re afraid people won’t buy—this episode is your permission slip to stop. Pricing transparency isn’t just about logistics; it’s a marketing strategy that builds trust and primes people to say yes.
