How Many Launch Emails Is Too Many?
You’re mid-launch, finger hovering over the “send” button, wondering… am I about to annoy everyone on my list?
If you’ve ever second-guessed how many launch emails to send (or who to send them to), you’re not alone!
Why Launch Email Anxiety Kills Launch Sales
I get it. No one wants to feel spammy or aggressive. But the truth? Most online business owners don’t send enough launch emails during a promotion. And it’s not because their offer isn’t good—it’s because they’re scared of unsubscribes.
Let’s reframe that: You’re a business. People join your list expecting you’ll sell things. If you’ve done the pre-launch work to warm and prep your audience, launch time is go time.
And if someone unsubscribes because you sell twice a year for two weeks? You’re probably not the best match anyway.
Here’s What I Recommend (and Personally Do) for Launch Emails
Email cadence:
- 1–2 launch emails a day during your launch
- 3–4 launch emails on cart close day
- Possibly 3 launch emails a day if you’re dropping bonuses or replays
Launch length:
- 5–8 days is my sweet spot
- Shorter launches (even 3 days) can work if you’ve done a strong pre-launch
Segmenting
- If you have multiple audiences or offers, segment intentionally
- But don’t assume someone isn’t interested just because they didn’t sign up for a webinar
- Sometimes, the “silent lurkers” just want to see the offer
Soft opt-outs:
- Optional! You can add a link that lets subscribers opt out of launch emails
- Test this if you’re concerned about unsubscribes—but it’s not a must
