Why Your Pre-Launch Content Isn’t Just About Warming People Up
What if you’re already creating pre-launch content — but it isn’t actually getting anyone ready to buy?
That’s a sneaky problem because, from the outside, it looks like you’re doing everything right.
You’re emailing your list, posting consistently, sending people to a waitlist, inviting them to a webinar, and/or nurturing your audience.
Check, check, check.
But there’s a difference between taking action and taking the action that actually solves the problem.
I was reminded of that recently because of, of all things, my foot.
How My Hurt Foot is Like Your Buyers
I’ve been dealing with a foot problem for a couple of years. I saw a podiatrist. Tried a cortisone shot. Went to physical therapy. Tried another type of therapy.
I was doing allll the things.
But my foot still hurt.
Eventually, I saw a specialist who discovered bone spurs — and suddenly there was an explanation for why all that action hadn’t actually solved the underlying problem.
And it made me think about launching.
Because I see business owners doing the same thing with their pre-launch content.
They’re doing something. But is it solving the right problem?
What Should Your Pre-Launch Content Actually Do?
Here’s the question I want you to ask:
Can you look at every piece of content you’re publishing in the 4-6 weeks before your launch and explain what it’s meant to change in your buyer’s mind?
Not just what you want them to do.
What do you want them to believe?
That distinction matters because I no longer think about pre-launch as simply “warming up” your audience.
Warming up sounds passive.
Instead, I want you to think about shifting beliefs and closing the gap between someone who could be your ideal client and someone who is actually ready to say, “Yes. This is what I need, and I need it now.”
How Pre-Launch Content Closes the Buyer-Readiness Gap
Inside the episode, I dig into what I call that invisible gap — the space between nurture content and traditional sales content.
A few things to think about:
- Your pre-launch content should intentionally move beliefs, not simply keep you visible.
- Your ideal client can be interested in your work and still not be ready to buy.
- The right content can address objections and create micro-commitments before your offer opens.
- A repeatable pre-launch system can help you stop rebuilding your strategy from scratch every time you sell.
This is also why I’ve been thinking differently about anticipation.
Anticipation creates desire. Desire creates demand. And when demand already exists, your launch doesn’t have to do all the heavy lifting.
Why Pre-Launch Content Can Make Selling Feel Easier
The actual launch can almost become the formality.
Your pre-launch content is where you have the opportunity to help someone recognize their problem, rethink what they believe, see what’s been holding them back, and understand why your solution may be the right next step.
That’s very different from posting a few nurture emails and calling it a pre-launch.
In this episode of Before the Launch, I’m breaking down the misconception I see even experienced business owners and marketers make — and the questions you can use to determine whether your pre-launch is actually doing its job.
Listen to the episode, then take a look at your next launch plan and ask yourself:
Is my pre-launch content simply keeping me visible — or is it intentionally getting my buyers ready?
